Risk Analysis
This critical improper input validation vulnerability in ColdFusion allows arbitrary code execution without user interaction. The flaw can lead to a full system compromise. The CVSS score of 10.0 indicates the highest possible severity, making this an extremely urgent issue.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. The flaw is remotely exploitable without authentication or user interaction, making it a highly attractive target.
Upgrade ColdFusion to versions 2025.9, 2023.20, or later to address the improper input validation vulnerability. Ensure all input is properly sanitized and validated.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-48316 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), with a CVSS base score of 10.0.
The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
