CVE-2023-5763
CWE-20Published: November 3, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
In Eclipse Glassfish 5 or 6, running with old versions of JDK (lower than 6u211, or < 7u201, or < 8u191), allows remote attackers to load malicious code on the server via access to insecure ORB listeners.
Risk Analysis
Eclipse Glassfish is vulnerable to remote code execution when running on outdated JDK versions due to insecure ORB listeners. The 9.8 CVSS score underscores the high risk of server compromise for systems using legacy Java environments.
No public exploit is known, and it is not listed in the KEV catalog.
Upgrade the underlying JDK to a supported, secure version (e.g., 6u211, 7u201, 8u191 or higher) to secure the ORB listeners.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-5763 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
