CWE-89Published: November 2, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Online Bus Booking System v1.0 is vulnerable to multiple Unauthenticated SQL Injection vulnerabilities. The 'user_email' parameter of the bus_info.php resource does not validate the characters received and they are sent unfiltered to the database.
Risk Analysis
The Online Bus Booking System contains an unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability in the user_email parameter. This flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary database commands, posing a critical risk to data integrity and confidentiality. The high CVSS score reflects the severity of allowing unauthenticated access to the backend database.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability, and it is not tracked in the CISA KEV database.
Apply input sanitization to the user_email parameter and ensure the application is updated to the latest secure version.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-45012 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-89): SQL injection vulnerabilities allow attackers to manipulate database queries, potentially exposing or modifying sensitive data.
