CWE-20Published: July 13, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Stored or persistent cross-site scripting (XSS) is a type of XSS where the attacker first sends the payload to the web application, then the application saves the payload (e.g., in a database or server-side text files), and finally, the application unintentionally executes the payload for every victim visiting its web pages.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-29454 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
