Official Description

Incorrect authorization in the XML-RPC API of WebPros Plesk before 18.0.78.4 allows a low-privileged authenticated customer to look up domains they do not own, because ownership is enforced only for certain lookup filters and schema validation is bypassed for legacy protocol versions. This results in cross-tenant disclosure of other tenants' FTP credentials stored in cleartext, which can be leveraged to execute code as another tenant's system user.

Risk Analysis

This critical vulnerability in WebPros Plesk allows a low-privileged authenticated customer to access sensitive information, specifically other tenants' FTP credentials. The flaw stems from incorrect authorization in the XML-RPC API, bypassing ownership checks for certain lookup filters. With a CVSS score of 9.9, this vulnerability poses a severe risk of cross-tenant data disclosure and potential code execution.

Currently, there are no public exploits known for this vulnerability. However, it is remotely exploitable by an authenticated, low-privileged attacker.

Recommended Action

Upgrade WebPros Plesk to version 18.0.78.4 or later to fix this authorization issue. Regularly review and restrict user privileges to the minimum necessary.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-56843 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.9.

The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
