CVE-2026-48321
CWE-863Published: July 14, 2026· Updated: Jul 16, 2026
Official Description
ColdFusion is affected by an Incorrect Authorization vulnerability that could result in privilege escalation. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to gain unauthorized read and write access. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. Scope is changed.
Risk Analysis
This critical vulnerability in ColdFusion is an incorrect authorization flaw that could lead to privilege escalation, granting unauthorized read and write access. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this flaw presents the highest possible risk of complete system compromise. The absence of an EPSS score and KEV listing means there's no current indication of widespread exploitation, but the severity demands immediate attention.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. The flaw is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity, indicating that it could be easily exploited if an exploit becomes available.
Apply the latest security updates for Adobe ColdFusion 2023 and 2025. Review and enforce robust authorization policies to prevent privilege escalation.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-48321 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 10.0.
The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
