Official Description
A specially crafted aggregation query with $lookup by an authenticated user with write privileges can cause a double-free or use-after-free memory issue in the slot-based execution (SBE) engine when an in-memory hash table is spilled to disk.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-4358 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 6.4.
