CWE-22Published: May 20, 2026· Updated: May 21, 2026
Official Description
Frappe Learning Management System (LMS) is a learning system that helps users structure their content. In versions 2.50.0 and below, a user with course editing role could upload a SCORM ZIP package to write files outside the intended directory. This issue has been resolved in version 2.50.1.
Risk Analysis
This critical path traversal vulnerability in Frappe Learning Management System (LMS) allows a user with course editing privileges to write files outside the intended directory when uploading a SCORM ZIP package. This can lead to unauthorized file creation and potential system compromise. A CVSSv4 score of 9.4 indicates a high risk of confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable by an authenticated user over the network with low attack complexity.
Frappe LMS users should upgrade to version 2.50.1 or later to resolve this path traversal issue. Ensure that all file upload mechanisms properly sanitize filenames and enforce directory restrictions.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-39405 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
