CVE-2026-3144
CWE-1392Published: July 8, 2026· Updated: Jul 10, 2026
Official Description
IBM API Connect 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.0.3 uses default credentials which could allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access to the application before the system enforces a credential update.
Risk Analysis
This critical vulnerability in IBM API Connect versions 12.1.0.0 through 12.1.0.3 allows unauthorized access due to the use of default credentials. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this flaw poses an extreme risk, as attackers can gain full control of the application before credentials are updated. The absence of an EPSS score means the exploitation likelihood is not yet quantified, but the severity is very high.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. The flaw is remotely exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and requires no user interaction or privileges.
Immediately change all default credentials for IBM API Connect installations. Ensure that strong, unique passwords are used and that a policy is in place to enforce credential updates upon initial setup.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-3144 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
