CVE-2026-26232
CWE-294Published: July 3, 2026· Updated: Jul 7, 2026
Official Description
Gitea versions before 1.25.5 do not consistently enforce OAuth2 authorization code expiry and single-use behavior during token exchange.
Risk Analysis
This critical vulnerability in Gitea versions before 1.25.5 allows for the inconsistent enforcement of OAuth2 authorization code expiry and single-use behavior during token exchange. With a CVSS score of 9.1, this flaw presents a high risk, as it can lead to unauthorized access to user accounts and data. The absence of an EPSS score means the exploitation likelihood is not yet quantified, but the severity demands attention.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. However, it is remotely exploitable over the network with low attack complexity by unauthenticated attackers.
Gitea administrators should update their installations to version 1.25.5 or later. Implement strict policies for OAuth2 authorization code expiry and single-use to prevent token reuse and unauthorized access.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-26232 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), with a CVSS base score of 9.1.
