CVE-2026-2586
CWE-94Published: May 19, 2026· Updated: May 21, 2026
Official Description
An authenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability was identified in GlassFish's Administration Console. A user with access to the panel can send crafted requests that allow the execution of arbitrary operating system commands with the privileges of the application service user.
Risk Analysis
This critical authenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in GlassFish's Administration Console allows users with access to execute arbitrary operating system commands. With a CVSS score of 9.1, this flaw poses a high risk of system compromise if an authenticated attacker gains access.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. While it requires authentication, its remote exploitability and low attack complexity make it a significant threat once an attacker has credentials.
Upgrade Eclipse Glassfish to a patched version. Implement strong authentication and access controls for the Administration Console, and ensure only trusted users have access.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-2586 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires high privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.1.
The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
