Risk Analysis

n8n contains a sandbox breakout vulnerability in its Python Code node that allows authenticated users to execute code outside the intended security boundary. This critical flaw allows for arbitrary code execution on the underlying host.

There is no known public exploit for this issue, and it is not in the KEV catalog. It is remotely exploitable by an authenticated user with low attack complexity.

Recommended Action

Upgrade to n8n version 2.4.8 or later to strengthen the Python sandbox environment.

Generated by the CTIWATCH analysis pipeline from this CVE's metadata (CVSS, EPSS, KEV status, exploit intelligence). Verify against vendor advisories before acting.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-25115 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.9.

The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
