NVD-CWE-noinfoPublished: October 31, 2025· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
A vulnerability in the Mount service of Veeam Backup & Replication, which allows for remote code execution (RCE) on the Backup infrastructure hosts by an authenticated domain user.
Risk Analysis
This critical vulnerability in Veeam Backup & Replication's Mount service allows for remote code execution (RCE). An authenticated domain user can exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary code on the backup infrastructure hosts, leading to full system compromise. The CVSS score of 9.9 indicates an extremely high severity.
There is no public exploit known for this vulnerability. It is remotely exploitable by an authenticated domain user.
Veeam Backup & Replication users should apply the latest security patches to address this RCE vulnerability in the Mount service. Restrict access to the backup infrastructure hosts to only necessary and trusted users.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2025-48983 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.9.
The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
