CISA KEV Advisory
Wing FTP Server Improper Neutralization of Null Byte or NUL Character Vulnerability
Wing FTP Server contains an improper neutralization of null byte or NUL character vulnerability that can allow injection of arbitrary Lua code into user session files. This can be used to execute arbitrary system commands with the privileges of the FTP service (root or SYSTEM by default).
Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
Risk Analysis
Wing FTP Server is vulnerable to a null byte injection flaw that permits attackers to inject arbitrary Lua code into user session files. This can result in the execution of system commands with high privileges, such as root or SYSTEM. The very high EPSS score of 0.92465 and its presence in the KEV catalog highlight the urgency of addressing this critical vulnerability.
This vulnerability is actively exploited in the wild and is included in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. The nature of the flaw suggests it is remotely exploitable.
Administrators of Wing FTP Server should apply the latest security patches provided by the vendor. Implement strong access controls and monitor server logs for unusual activity.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2025-47812 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
CISA has added CVE-2025-47812 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog, confirming active exploitation in the wild. U.S. federal agencies are required to patch this within the mandated timeframe, and all organizations should treat remediation as urgent.
