Risk Analysis

This critical vulnerability affects Sprecher Automations SPRECON-E-C, SPRECON-E-P, and SPRECON-E-T3 devices due to the use of default cryptographic keys. An unauthorized remote attacker can exploit these keys to read, modify, and write project data, or gain remote maintenance access to any device. The CVSS score of 9.8 highlights the severe risk, as it allows for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability without requiring any privileges or user interaction.

No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability, and it is not listed in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. This vulnerability is remotely exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no user interaction required.

Recommended Action

Administrators of Sprecher Automations SPRECON-E-C, SPRECON-E-P, and SPRECON-E-T3 devices must change all default cryptographic keys immediately. Replace them with strong, unique keys to prevent unauthorized remote access and data manipulation.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-41742 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
