CVE-2025-3450
CWE-413Published: October 7, 2025· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
An Improper Resource Locking vulnerability in the SDM component of B&R Automation Runtime versions before 6.3 and before Q4.93 may allow an unauthenticated network-based attacker to delete data causing denial of service conditions.
Risk Analysis
This critical vulnerability in B&R Automation Runtime versions before 6.3 and Q4.93 involves improper resource locking in the SDM component, which could allow an unauthenticated attacker to delete data. With a perfect CVSS score of 10.0, this flaw can lead to a complete denial of service. The absence of an EPSS score means its exploitation likelihood is not yet predicted, but its critical severity demands immediate attention.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. The flaw is remotely exploitable without authentication and has low attack complexity.
Organizations using B&R Automation Runtime should upgrade to versions 6.3 or Q4.93 or later to mitigate this vulnerability. Additionally, review network segmentation and access controls for the SDM component.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2025-3450 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 10.0.
The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
