CVE-2025-12762
NVD-CWE-noinfoPublished: November 13, 2025· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
pgAdmin versions up to 9.9 are affected by a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability that occurs when running in server mode and performing restores from PLAIN-format dump files. This issue allows attackers to inject and execute arbitrary commands on the server hosting pgAdmin, posing a critical risk to the integrity and security of the database management system and underlying data.
Risk Analysis
This critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in pgAdmin allows attackers to inject and execute arbitrary commands on the server when performing restores from PLAIN-format dump files. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this flaw poses a severe risk to the integrity and security of the database management system and underlying data. The absence of an EPSS score means the likelihood of exploitation is not yet quantified, but its critical severity warrants immediate attention.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. The flaw is remotely exploitable without authentication.
Administrators using pgAdmin should upgrade to versions beyond 9.9 to address this RCE vulnerability. Exercise caution when restoring from PLAIN-format dump files and ensure their integrity.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2025-12762 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
