CVE-2025-12539

CWE-922Published: November 11, 2025· Updated: Jun 17, 2026

10.0
CVSS v3.1

Official Description

The TNC Toolbox: Web Performance plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Sensitive Information Exposure in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.2. This is due to the plugin storing cPanel API credentials (hostname, username, and API key) in files within the web-accessible wp-content directory without adequate protection in the "Tnc_Wp_Toolbox_Settings::save_settings" function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to retrieve these credentials and use them to interact with the cPanel API, which can lead to arbitrary file uploads, remote code execution, and full compromise of the hosting environment.

Risk Analysis

This critical vulnerability in the TNC Toolbox: Web Performance WordPress plugin allows unauthenticated attackers to expose sensitive cPanel API credentials. With a CVSS score of 10.0, this flaw poses an extreme risk, enabling remote code execution and full compromise of the hosting environment.

No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability, and it is not listed in CISA's KEV catalog. The attack vector is network-based with low complexity, indicating it is remotely exploitable.

Recommended Action

WordPress users with the TNC Toolbox plugin should immediately remove or disable it if an update is not available. Ensure sensitive configuration files are not web-accessible and implement strong file permissions.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2025-12539 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 10.0.

The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
