CVE-2025-12422
CWE-22Published: October 28, 2025· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Vulnerable Upgrade Feature (Arbitrary File Write) may lead to obtaining super user permissions on board. This issue affects BLU-IC2: through 1.19.5; BLU-IC4: through 1.19.5.
Risk Analysis
This critical vulnerability in the upgrade feature of BLU-IC2 and BLU-IC4 allows for arbitrary file writes, which can lead to obtaining super user permissions on the board. This flaw could allow an attacker to gain full control of the system, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this flaw is highly severe and could lead to significant impact if exploited. There is no EPSS score available to indicate exploitation likelihood, and it is not listed in CISA's KEV catalog.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability. The attack vector is network-based with low attack complexity, indicating it is remotely exploitable without requiring user interaction.
To mitigate this vulnerability, ensure that BLU-IC2 and BLU-IC4 devices are updated to versions beyond 1.19.5. Implement secure file handling practices and restrict write access to critical system directories.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2025-12422 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
