CISA KEV Advisory
GeoVision Devices OS Command Injection Vulnerability
Multiple GeoVision devices contain an OS command injection vulnerability that allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to inject and execute arbitrary system commands. The impacted products could be end-of-life (EoL) and/or end-of-service (EoS). Users should discontinue product utilization.
Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
Risk Analysis
Multiple GeoVision devices are vulnerable to an OS command injection flaw, allowing a remote, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary system commands. With an EPSS score of 0.72966 and confirmed exploitation by CISA (is_in_kev: true), this is a high-priority vulnerability that is actively being exploited.
This vulnerability is actively exploited in the wild and is remotely exploitable by unauthenticated attackers. Its presence in CISA's KEV confirms its active use by malicious actors.
Users should discontinue the utilization of impacted GeoVision products, especially if they are end-of-life or end-of-service. If discontinuation is not immediately possible, isolate these devices from public networks.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2024-6047 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
CISA has added CVE-2024-6047 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog, confirming active exploitation in the wild. U.S. federal agencies are required to patch this within the mandated timeframe, and all organizations should treat remediation as urgent.
