CISA KEV Advisory
D-Link Multiple NAS Devices Command Injection Vulnerability
D-Link DNS-320L, DNS-325, DNS-327L, and DNS-340L contain a command injection vulnerability. When combined with CVE-2024-3272, this can lead to remote, unauthorized code execution.
This vulnerability affects legacy D-Link products. All associated hardware revisions have reached their end-of-life (EOL) or end-of-service (EOS) life cycle and should be retired and replaced per vendor instructions.
Risk Analysis
This command injection vulnerability in D-Link DNS-320L, DNS-325, DNS-327L, and DNS-340L, when combined with CVE-2024-3272, can lead to remote, unauthorized code execution. The very high EPSS score indicates a strong likelihood of exploitation, and its inclusion in CISA's KEV confirms active exploitation, making this a critical and urgent issue.
Active exploitation of this vulnerability has been observed in the wild, indicating that working exploits are readily available and being used by attackers. This flaw is remotely exploitable.
Update D-Link DNS-320L, DNS-325, DNS-327L, and DNS-340L devices to the latest firmware versions that address this vulnerability. Restrict network access to these devices and ensure they are not exposed to the public internet.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2024-3273 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
CISA has added CVE-2024-3273 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog, confirming active exploitation in the wild. U.S. federal agencies are required to patch this within the mandated timeframe, and all organizations should treat remediation as urgent.
