CVE-2024-29212
CWE-502Published: May 14, 2024· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Due to an unsafe de-serialization method used by the Veeam Service Provider Console(VSPC) server in communication between the management agent and its components, under certain conditions, it is possible to perform Remote Code Execution (RCE) on the VSPC server machine.
Risk Analysis
The Veeam Service Provider Console is vulnerable to remote code execution due to unsafe deserialization during component communication. This critical flaw is rated 9.9 and requires low privileges to exploit.
No public exploit is currently known, and it is not in the CISA KEV. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.
Update the Veeam Service Provider Console to the latest version provided by the vendor.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2024-29212 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.9.
The vulnerability has a "Changed" scope, meaning successful exploitation can impact components beyond the vulnerable component itself — such as the host operating system or adjacent services.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-502): Insecure deserialization vulnerabilities allow attackers to inject malicious objects during deserialization, potentially enabling remote code execution.
