CVE-2023-6928
CWE-307Published: December 19, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
EuroTel ETL3100 versions v01c01 and v01x37 does not limit the number of attempts to guess administrative credentials in remote password attacks to gain full control of the system.
Risk Analysis
The EuroTel ETL3100 fails to implement rate limiting or account lockout mechanisms for administrative login attempts. This makes the system highly susceptible to remote password guessing attacks, potentially leading to full system takeover.
No public exploit is known, and the vulnerability is not in the KEV catalog. It is remotely exploitable with low complexity.
Update the firmware to a version that enforces account lockout policies. Ensure strong, unique administrative passwords are used and monitor logs for repeated failed login attempts.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-6928 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
