CVE-2023-51714
CWE-190Published: December 24, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
An issue was discovered in the HTTP2 implementation in Qt before 5.15.17, 6.x before 6.2.11, 6.3.x through 6.5.x before 6.5.4, and 6.6.x before 6.6.2. network/access/http2/hpacktable.cpp has an incorrect HPack integer overflow check.
Risk Analysis
An integer overflow vulnerability in the HPACK table implementation of Qt's HTTP2 module can lead to memory corruption. This critical flaw is remotely exploitable and could allow an attacker to compromise the application. The 9.8 CVSS score reflects the potential for full system impact.
No public exploit is currently known, but the vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.
Upgrade Qt to version 5.15.17, 6.2.11, 6.5.4, 6.6.2, or later to resolve the integer overflow issue.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-51714 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
