CVSS v3.1

Official Description

A CWE-120: Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input vulnerability exists in Telit Cinterion EHS5/6/8 that could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system by sending a specially crafted SMS message.

NVD Source

Risk Analysis

Telit Cinterion devices are susceptible to a buffer overflow vulnerability triggered by specially crafted SMS messages. This critical flaw allows for remote code execution by an unauthenticated attacker, though it is not currently in the CISA KEV.

No public exploit is known for this flaw, and it is not in the KEV. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.

Recommended Action

Apply firmware updates provided by the manufacturer for the affected EHS and BGS series devices.

Generated by the CTIWATCH analysis pipeline from this CVE's metadata (CVSS, EPSS, KEV status, exploit intelligence). Verify against vendor advisories before acting.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2023-47610 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
