Risk Analysis

The Internet Reservation Module (IRM) contains a SQL injection vulnerability that allows attackers to leak session data and impersonate logged-in users. This critical flaw enables unauthorized access to sensitive user sessions.

No public exploit is known, and the vulnerability is not in CISA KEV. It is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.

Recommended Action

Ensure the IRM software is updated to the latest version to mitigate this SQL injection risk.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2023-39423 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), with a CVSS base score of 9.1.

From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-89): SQL injection vulnerabilities allow attackers to manipulate database queries, potentially exposing or modifying sensitive data.
