CWE-434Published: August 28, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Saho’s attendance devices ADM100 and ADM-100FP has insufficient filtering for special characters and file type within their file uploading function. A unauthenticate remote attacker authenticated can upload and execute arbitrary files to perform arbitrary system commands or disrupt service.
Risk Analysis
Saho attendance devices suffer from insufficient file upload filtering, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to upload and execute arbitrary files. This can lead to full system command execution or service disruption. The critical 9.8 CVSS score highlights the high risk posed to affected firmware versions.
There is no known public exploit for this issue, and it is not tracked in the KEV catalog. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low complexity.
Update the device firmware to a version beyond the affected releases and restrict network access to the device management interface.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-38029 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
