CVE-2023-34341
CWE-119Published: June 12, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
AMI BMC contains a vulnerability in the SPX REST API, where an
attacker with the required privileges can read and write to arbitrary locations
within the memory context of the IPMI server process, which may lead to code
execution, denial of service, information disclosure, or data tampering.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-34341 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 8.8.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-119): Buffer overflow vulnerabilities can lead to arbitrary code execution or denial of service by corrupting adjacent memory.
