Risk Analysis

An integer overflow in the SerialiseValue function of RenderDoc leads to a buffer overflow. This critical vulnerability could be exploited to achieve remote code execution. Immediate patching is recommended due to the high CVSS score.

No public exploit is known, and it is not in the CISA KEV. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.

Recommended Action

Upgrade to RenderDoc version 1.27 or later to address the memory corruption vulnerability.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2023-33863 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
