CVE-2023-3325

CWE-345Published: June 20, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026

9.8
CVSS v3.1

Official Description

The CMS Commander plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass due to the use of an insufficiently unique cryptographic signature on the 'cmsc_add_site' function in versions up to, and including, 2.287. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to the plugin to change the '_cmsc_public_key' in the plugin config, providing access to the plugin's remote control functionalities, such as creating an admin access URL, which can be used for privilege escalation. This can only be exploited if the plugin has not been configured yet, however, if combined with another arbitrary plugin installation and activation vulnerability, the impact can be severe.

Risk Analysis

The CMS Commander plugin for WordPress is susceptible to an authorization bypass caused by weak cryptographic signatures. This allows unauthenticated attackers to modify configuration settings and gain remote control, warranting high urgency due to the critical CVSS score.

This vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low complexity, though there is no known public exploit circulating at this time.

Recommended Action

Update the CMS Commander plugin to a version beyond 2.287 and ensure the plugin is properly configured to prevent unauthorized access.

Generated by the CTIWATCH analysis pipeline from this CVE's metadata (CVSS, EPSS, KEV status, exploit intelligence). Verify against vendor advisories before acting.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2023-3325 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
