CWE-22Published: May 23, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
MicroEngine Mailform version 1.1.0 to 1.1.8 contains a path traversal vulnerability. If the product's file upload function and server save option are enabled, a remote attacker may save an arbitrary file on the server and execute it.
Risk Analysis
MicroEngine Mailform versions 1.1.0 through 1.1.8 are vulnerable to path traversal, which can allow remote attackers to save and execute arbitrary files on the server. This critical flaw requires the file upload and server save options to be enabled.
No public exploit is known, but the vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low complexity.
Upgrade to a patched version of Mailform. Disable the server save option for file uploads if it is not strictly necessary for business operations.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-27507 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
