CWE-434Published: May 23, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Unrestricted upload of file with dangerous type exists in MicroEngine Mailform version 1.1.0 to 1.1.8. If the product's file upload function and server save option are enabled, a remote attacker may save an arbitrary file on the server and execute it.
Risk Analysis
MicroEngine Mailform versions 1.1.0 through 1.1.8 allow unrestricted file uploads, which can lead to remote code execution if the server save option is enabled. This critical vulnerability allows attackers to upload dangerous file types.
No public exploit is known, but the vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low complexity.
Upgrade to the latest version of Mailform. Implement strict validation on all uploaded files to ensure only permitted file types are accepted.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-27397 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
