Official Description
A Hard Coded Admin Credentials issue in the Web-UI Admin Panel in Propius MachineSelector 6.6.0 and 6.6.1 allows remote attackers to gain access to the admin panel Propiusadmin.php, which allows taking control of the affected system.
Risk Analysis
Propius MachineSelector contains hard-coded administrative credentials in its web interface, allowing remote attackers to gain full control of the system. The critical severity reflects the ease with which an attacker can bypass authentication.
There is no public exploit known for this vulnerability, but it is remotely exploitable with low complexity.
Users should upgrade to a version of MachineSelector that removes hard-coded credentials and ensure the admin panel is not exposed to the public internet.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-26511 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
