CWE-78Published: March 13, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
OS Command injection vulnerability in D-Link DIR-867 DIR_867_FW1.30B07 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted LocalIPAddress parameter for the SetVirtualServerSettings to HNAP1.
Risk Analysis
D-Link DIR-867 routers are vulnerable to OS command injection via the LocalIPAddress parameter in the HNAP1 interface. This critical flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the device.
No public exploit is known, and it is not in the CISA KEV. It is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.
Update the router firmware to a version later than 1.30B07. Disable HNAP1 or restrict access to the management interface.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2023-24762 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
