CWE-611Published: January 31, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Netcad KEOS 1.0 is vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) resulting in SSRF with XXE (remote).
Risk Analysis
Netcad KEOS is vulnerable to XML External Entity (XXE) injection, which can be used to perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). This allows an attacker to interact with internal network resources. The critical CVSS score reflects the potential for significant unauthorized access.
No public exploit is known, and it is not in the CISA KEV. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable.
Apply patches provided by Netcad for KEOS 1.0 or implement strict XML parsing configurations to disable external entities.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2022-47873 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
