Published: February 6, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026

9.8

NVD Source

Risk Analysis

The Hide My WP WordPress plugin is vulnerable to SQL injection because it fails to properly sanitize parameters used in AJAX actions. This allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands, resulting in a critical 9.8 CVSS score.

A proof-of-concept exploit is publicly available, but the vulnerability is not in the CISA KEV. It is remotely exploitable.

Recommended Action

Update the Hide My WP plugin to version 6.2.9 or later to resolve the sanitization issue.

Generated by the CTIWATCH analysis pipeline from this CVE's metadata (CVSS, EPSS, KEV status, exploit intelligence). Verify against vendor advisories before acting.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2022-4681 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.

A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2022-4681. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
