CWE-121Published: February 8, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026

9.8
CVSS v3.1

Official Description

Insufficient validation of input parameters when

changing configuration on Tbase server in B&R APROL versions < R 4.2-07 could result in buffer

overflow. This may lead to Denial-of-Service conditions or execution of

arbitrary code.

Risk Analysis

B&R APROL Tbase server is vulnerable to a buffer overflow due to insufficient input validation, which can lead to denial-of-service or remote code execution. The 9.8 CVSS score underscores the high urgency of this flaw for industrial environments.

No public exploit is known, and it is not in the CISA KEV. The flaw is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.

Recommended Action

Upgrade B&R APROL to version R 4.2-07 or later.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2022-43764 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
