CVE-2022-42744
CWE-89Published: November 3, 2022· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
CandidATS version 3.0.0 allows an external attacker to perform CRUD operations on the application databases. This is possible because the application does not correctly validate the entriesPerPage parameter against SQLi attacks.
Risk Analysis
CandidATS version 3.0.0 is vulnerable to SQL injection due to improper validation of the entriesPerPage parameter. This allows remote attackers to perform unauthorized database operations, resulting in a critical CVSS score of 9.8.
No public exploit is known, and the vulnerability is not in the CISA KEV catalog. It is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.
Ensure the application is updated or apply patches that enforce strict input validation on the entriesPerPage parameter.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2022-42744 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-89): SQL injection vulnerabilities allow attackers to manipulate database queries, potentially exposing or modifying sensitive data.
