CVE-2022-3927

CWE-798Published: January 5, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026

9.8
CVSS v3.1

Official Description

The affected products store both public and private key that are used to sign and

protect Custom Parameter Set (CPS) file from modification. An attacker that manages to exploit this vulnerability will be able to change

the CPS file, sign it so that it is trusted as the legitimate CPS file.

Risk Analysis

The affected products improperly store cryptographic keys used to protect Custom Parameter Set files, allowing an attacker to modify and resign these files. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this critical vulnerability allows for full system compromise, though there is no evidence of active exploitation.

The vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity, but there is no known public exploit and it is not in CISA's KEV catalog.

Recommended Action

Users should apply the latest security updates provided by Hitachi Energy for the FOXMAN-UN and UNEM products.

Generated by the CTIWATCH analysis pipeline from this CVE's metadata (CVSS, EPSS, KEV status, exploit intelligence). Verify against vendor advisories before acting.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2022-3927 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
