CWE-89Published: April 3, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
BluePage CMS thru 3.9 processes an insufficiently sanitized HTTP Header Cookie value allowing MySQL Injection in the 'users-cookie-settings' token using a Time-based blind SLEEP payload.
Risk Analysis
BluePage CMS contains a critical SQL injection vulnerability in the users-cookie-settings token, caused by insufficient sanitization of cookie values. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary database queries.
No public exploit is known, but the vulnerability is remotely exploitable.
Update the CMS to a version that properly sanitizes cookie inputs.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2022-38922 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-89): SQL injection vulnerabilities allow attackers to manipulate database queries, potentially exposing or modifying sensitive data.
