CWE-20Published: July 25, 2022· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Obsidian 0.14.x and 0.15.x before 0.15.5 allows obsidian://hook-get-address remote code execution because window.open is used without checking the URL.
Risk Analysis
Obsidian versions 0.14.x and 0.15.x before 0.15.5 are vulnerable to remote code execution because the application fails to validate URLs passed to window.open. This critical flaw allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code remotely without authentication.
No public exploit is currently known for this vulnerability, and it is not in the CISA KEV database.
Upgrade to Obsidian version 0.15.5 or later to resolve the improper URL handling.
