Official Description

Hard-coded credentials in Web-UI of multiple VARTA Storage products in multiple versions allows an unauthorized attacker to gain administrative access to the Web-UI via network.

NVD Source

Risk Analysis

Multiple VARTA Storage products contain hard-coded credentials in their Web-UI, allowing unauthorized remote attackers to gain administrative access. This critical vulnerability is highly dangerous as it provides immediate control over the affected devices.

There is no known public exploit, and it is not in the CISA KEV. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.

Recommended Action

Update to the latest firmware provided by VARTA. Change default credentials immediately if the interface allows, and restrict network access to the Web-UI.

Generated by the CTIWATCH analysis pipeline from this CVE's metadata (CVSS, EPSS, KEV status, exploit intelligence). Verify against vendor advisories before acting.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2022-22512 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.

The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.

A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
