CWE-89Published: January 20, 2023· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
SQL-Injection vulnerability caused by the lack of verification of input values for the table name of DB used by the Mangboard bulletin board. A remote attacker can use this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the server where the bulletin board is running.
Risk Analysis
The Mangboard bulletin board plugin for WordPress contains a SQL injection vulnerability due to improper input validation. An attacker can leverage this to execute arbitrary code on the underlying server, warranting a critical 9.8 CVSS rating.
No public exploit is known, and it is not in the CISA KEV. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable with low attack complexity.
Update the Mangboard plugin to the latest version and ensure the web server is hardened against unauthorized code execution.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2021-26644 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
The vulnerability requires no privileges and no user interaction, making it a prime target for automated exploitation campaigns and worm-like propagation.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 9.8.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-89): SQL injection vulnerabilities allow attackers to manipulate database queries, potentially exposing or modifying sensitive data.
