CVE-2018-0678
CWE-119Published: January 9, 2019· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
Buffer overflow in BN-SDWBP3 firmware version 1.0.9 and earlier allows an attacker on the same network segment to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2018-0678 requires adjacent network access, limiting remote exploitation but still posing risk in shared or local network environments.
Exploitation requires high privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 6.8.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-119): Buffer overflow vulnerabilities can lead to arbitrary code execution or denial of service by corrupting adjacent memory.
