Risk Analysis
When Apache Tomcat is running on Windows with HTTP PUTs enabled, an attacker can upload a JSP file via a specially crafted request. This allows for remote code execution when the uploaded JSP file is accessed. The high EPSS score of 0.94224 indicates a significant likelihood of exploitation, and it is confirmed to be exploited in the wild.
This vulnerability is actively exploited in the wild. Remote code execution is possible if HTTP PUTs are enabled on Apache Tomcat on Windows.
Disable HTTP PUTs on Apache Tomcat if not strictly necessary. Apply the latest security updates for Apache Tomcat.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2017-12615 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
