CWE-502Published: July 4, 2017· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
In Odoo 8.0, Odoo Community Edition 9.0 and 10.0, and Odoo Enterprise Edition 9.0 and 10.0, insecure handling of anonymization data in the Database Anonymization module allows remote authenticated privileged users to execute arbitrary Python code, because unpickle is used.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2017-10803 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires high privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in complete confidentiality breach (data exposure), full integrity compromise (data manipulation), availability disruption (denial of service), with a CVSS base score of 6.5.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2017-10803. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
From a weakness classification perspective (CWE-502): Insecure deserialization vulnerabilities allow attackers to inject malicious objects during deserialization, potentially enabling remote code execution.
