CWE-269Published: October 1, 2018· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
5.5
CVSS v3.1
Official Description
Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS) before 2.49 uses temporary folder locations that allow unprivileged local users to overwrite files. This allows a local attack in which either a plugin or the uninstaller can be replaced by a Trojan horse program.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2015-9267 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires low privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A successful exploit results in full integrity compromise (data manipulation), with a CVSS base score of 5.5.
