CVE-2014-2942
CWE-255Published: September 22, 2014· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
7.2
CVSS v3.1
Official Description
Cobham Aviator 700D and 700E satellite terminals use an improper algorithm for PIN codes, which makes it easier for attackers to obtain a privileged terminal session by calculating the superuser code, and then leveraging physical access or terminal access to enter this code.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2014-2942 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
