CVE-2013-6128
CWE-264Published: October 25, 2013· Updated: Jun 17, 2026
Official Description
The KCHARTXYLib.KChartXY ActiveX control in KChartXY.ocx before 65.30.30000.10002 in WellinTech KingView before 6.53 does not properly restrict SaveToFile method calls, which allows remote attackers to create or overwrite arbitrary files, and subsequently execute arbitrary programs, via the single pathname argument, as demonstrated by a directory traversal attack.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2013-6128 can be exploited remotely over the network without requiring physical or adjacent access, significantly expanding the attack surface for threat actors.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
A proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit exists for CVE-2013-6128. While not yet confirmed in active campaigns, the availability of PoC code increases exploitation risk substantially.
