Apply updates per vendor instructions.
Risk Analysis
This vulnerability in Mozilla Firefox allows remote attackers to access sensitive information from process memory by tricking a user into visiting a malicious website. While no CVSS score is available, its inclusion in CISA's KEV catalog and an EPSS score of 0.04742 indicates a significant likelihood of exploitation, making it an urgent concern.
This flaw is actively being exploited in the wild, as confirmed by its presence in CISA's KEV catalog. Attackers can exploit this remotely without user interaction beyond visiting a crafted web page.
Users should update their Mozilla Firefox browser to the latest secure version to address this memory initialization vulnerability. Regularly updating web browsers is a critical security practice.
Technical Analysis
CVE-2013-1675 requires local access, meaning attackers must already have a foothold on the target system.
Exploitation requires some privileges, which limits the exposure to scenarios where an attacker has already gained initial access.
CISA has added CVE-2013-1675 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog, confirming active exploitation in the wild. U.S. federal agencies are required to patch this within the mandated timeframe, and all organizations should treat remediation as urgent.
